Ratan Tata

Ratan Tata is one of Indias most successful and respected business leaders. He was born in 1937 in Mumbai and is the former chairman of Tata Group, a multinational conglomerate with interests in a variety of sectors including steel, automobiles, IT services, chemistry and hotels. Tata started his career in the family business and rose to become the chairman of the Tata Group in 1991.

Under his leadership, Tata Group became one of Indias largest and most respected industrial conglomerates. He was responsible for the expansion of Tata Group into new sectors and the acquisition of a number of companies, such as Jaguar Land Rover, Tetley, Corus, Tata Steel and Tata Consultancy Services. Tata also laid the foundations for a number of philanthropic initiatives, including the Tata Education and Development Trust, the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and the Tata Trusts.

He has also been actively involved in a number of charitable causes and has been recognised for his contribution to social causes. Tata has been recognised for his contribution to the business world by a number of organisations. He has been awarded the Padma Bhushan, one of Indias highest civilian awards, the Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy and the Padma Vibhushan.

He has also been inducted into the American Academy of Achievement, the International Business Council, the Indian Business Hall of Fame and the Foreign Policy Association. Tata will be remembered as one of Indias most successful and respected business leaders. His legacy will be long-lasting and his impact on the business world will be felt for generations to come.
