Rahul Gandhi

Rahul Gandhi is an Indian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament for Wayanad since 2019 and as the President of the Indian National Congress from December 2017 to July 2019. He is the son of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and the grandson of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. He is also the chairperson of the Indian Youth Congress and the National Students' Union of India.

 

 

 

Gandhi began his political career in 2004 when he ran for and won the seat of Amethi in the 15th Lok Sabha of the Indian Parliament. He was re-elected to the same seat in the 2009, 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He has also served as the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee from 2007 to 2013, and as the Vice President of the Indian National Congress from 2013 to 2017.

In the 2019 Indian general elections, Gandhi contested from two constituencies, Amethi and Wayanad, and won both seats. He was sworn in as an MP on June 17, 2019. During his tenure as Member of Parliament, Gandhi has attended several important committees, including the Public Accounts Committee, Consultative Committee of the Ministry of Home Affairs, and Standing Committee on Defence. Gandhi has been a vocal supporter of various social and economic causes, including education, environmental protection, rural development and the rights of women and minorities. He has also championed the cause of underprivileged and marginalized communities, and called for greater inclusion and social justice in India. He has been an advocate of poverty alleviation, job creation and economic growth.

Gandhi has also been an outspoken critic of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its policies, and has been at the forefront of the oppositions efforts to hold the government accountable. He has also been a vocal critic of the governments handling of the COVID-19 pandemic. Gandhis commitment to political and social change has earned him both admiration and criticism from different quarters. He is widely seen as a leader who stands for inclusiveness and social justice, and is determined to bring about positive change in India.
